Whenever students are first confronted with a new concept or idea, it's taught to them through simple step-by-step explanations, worked examples, or 'think-alouds'. This scaffolds this new learning in a way which doesn't overburden a student's cognitive load.
Students are then given scaffolded learning tasks to support them in applying the new skill or learning. The lessons don't ask students to exhibit mastery immediately. Instead, they're given the chance to practise the skill in a series of structured application tasks.
Only then - once students have demonstrated that they can apply the new skill within the confines of the provided scaffolds - are they given less structured application tasks which allow them to develop mastery of that skill.

You've got to take the generic text stream and turn it into teaching notes. Figure out how to make worksheets out of it which don't look horrible. And you'll probably also need to design some slides.
